Confidential Police Docs found in Macy’s Day Parade Confetti
There was quite a surprise at the Macy’s Day Parade on Thanksgiving this year!  Confetti was flying from the rooftops in celebration of Thanksgiving…but the police department in Nassau County New York is not celebrating now!  You see, the confetti that came tumbling out of the air and onto the streets and people below was mixed with strip shredded paper from the Confidential Files of the Nassau County, New York, Police Department.
When parade goers took a closer look at the strip cut papers they were shocked to see social security numbers, phone numbers, and addresses.  Even more concerning was the identification of undercover detectives with their date of birth, social security numbers and more.  Strips of information including incident reports and arrest records were also found among the strips of Confidential paper strewn carelessly among those celebrating.
Ethan Finkelstein, a college freshman, was concerned when he noticed a social security number on the strip of paper that fell onto his friend’s coat.  They collected other strips of paper and were able to identify some of the types of information listed above.
